5 Must Know Facts About Cord Stem Cell Banking

Posted by Christie Holland On February - 5 - 2010 1 COMMENT

The umbilical cord, which contains high stem cell counts, is the main source for these treasured cells. The cord blood is extracted from the umbilical cord soon after birth. Chances are you’ve already heard many people talking about stem cell transplant and why you need to bank them. Do you really need it? And if you do, what else do you need to think about before deciding on a bank? Not only will you get details on cord stem cell banking, but all the info you’ll need to consider before choosing a bank.

The pros for stem cells first

· It’s simple really. By banking your stem cells, you are actually providing yourself with better alternatives in the future to fight against diseases or health conditions. Stem cells can provide your children with healthy cells to help treat against life threatening diseases. Stem cell transplants can help cure hard to treat diseases such as leukemia and spinal cord injuries.

· Cord stem cell banking does not involve any injury or pain to the mother or the child. The cells required is taken from the umbilical cord after the birth, therefore there is absoluteny no pain or risk for your baby.

· Cord stem cell banking is very helpful when you need transplants for the parents or for a sibling also. Patients have to face high risks when undergoing bone marrow transplant. This is due to the possible rejection of the transplant by the host body. The chances of a stem cell rejection are remote. It can be used in the treatment of diseases like leukemia, brain tumors, cell disorders and congenital disturbances of the immune system.

And now the cons

· Of course, if there are no cases of genetically transmitted diseases in your family, you will not stand to gain a lot from cord stem cell banking.

· It doesn’t come cheap. You should be prepared to fork out at least 00 up front, with a 0 yearly maintenance cost. If you do not really run a risk of a genetic disease, these are costs you need not bear!

How do I choose a Cord stem cell banking facility?

It’s very simple. Once you have decided on banking the stem cells, ask yourself these questions:

· Would you like to go for public banking or a private facility?

· Is the bank stable?

· Consider the number of processed samples at the facility- larger sample handling means that there are more hands involved in the procedure and better infrastructure.

· Can you choose a different facility later?

· What are the costs involved? What is the amount you will have to pay up front and also the maintainence cost? Are those affordable?

· How will these costs affect your savings in the long run? Whether these costs are fixed or subject to change?

· Will you need to compromise on anything in order to ensure cord stem cell banking?

Cord stem cell banking is an important, albeit tough decision to make. Consider all the factors before you decide on what is right for you.

ALWAYS TIRED

After a lifetime of falling asleep in class, working at my computer, talking to friends, watching TV, reading a book and generally feeling always tired…I at long last became an expert on fatigue and fatigue treatment.

On March 28, 2009 I was rushed to ER with a stroke and died.

Well, not dead dead. Really dead people don’t make good experts. I chose to come back. It’s a long story I talk about on my blog, Brain Stroke Recovery.

That first day in Saddleback Hospital I had seven strokes. One enormous brain stroke way too close to my brain stem. After a grueling night of leaving my body, watching the doctors and nurses work to keep me alive and a really amazing near death experience I decided to live.

I woke absolutely paralyzed on my right side. My family was told I would never walk, talk, move my right arm or leg, feed myself, or even sit up ever again.

I tried to argue, but all I could do was make gurgling noises.

Since then I’ve proven the doctors wrong by making vast progress toward a complete recovery.

Unfortunately, my old nemeses, fatigue, grew worse.

Five months after Stroke Tom I was only able to sit at the computer for an hour and a half to two hours before I had to sleep for an hour or more. If I exercised for more than 30 minutes, I was done for the day.

Actually, if I over did either mental or physical activity I risked being down for two or three days. It’s called Stroke Fatigue.

Stroke Fatigue is devastating. Doc Lynn said that’s your life now, big fella. Suck it up!

Well, he didn’t say exactly that. Said to pace myself. Said Fatigue is the number one complaint among stroke victims. (Many other folks, truth be known) He said I had to pace myself because my brain couldn’t handle the stress. He said there was nothing I could do about it.

That’s about the time I fell into another Miracle Healing.

STROKE RECOVERY

I was at my computer, trying to avoid all calls because of the fatigue. Heck, I’m a writer and with only a couple of hours to work with I wanted to write. And doing it one handed made for slow going.

Now my wife, Diane, says she’s not psychic, but sometimes her voice changes and I just know she’s channeling some darn important information. When that happens I know it is time to listen.

Well, she came to my desk, phone in hand and with that deep tone in her voice said, “I have a feeling you should take this call; it’s from your friend, Larry again…and by the way, I’m not your personal assistant.” She set the phone down and walked out.

She was obviously channeling.

Long story short, Larry also suffers from diabetes and he’d found something that lowered his blood sugar 300 points in three months. It also gave him a new found wealth of energy.

And all you had to do was buy a very expensive machine and drink the elixir it made.

I won’t bore you with my objections; they were mostly about money. You know hundreds of thousands to stay alive and functioning, but not one red cent for healing and prevention. Kind of like my not wanting to call an ambulance because it was too expensive.

Fortunately, I got the machine and WOW! What a difference that amazing elixir has made in my life.

Today, I don’t get nearly as fatigued. It’s like night and day.

I’m at my desk most of the day. I come home from swimming and paint or write, straight away. Diane says I have more energy than before my brain stroke. Let me repeat that.

I have more energy now, than I did before Stroke Tom!

STROKE FATIGUE still raises his ugly head, but now I have a solution. When I feel a little puny I sit in a chair and drink a glass of my magic elixir. Usually I’m up and going in about twenty minutes. Sometimes I push too hard for too long, but even those times are nothing like before.

Oh, this amazing stroke fatigue solution does more than increase my energy level. It’s lowered my blood pressure and my blood sugar.

Thank God for Diane’s divine connection. She not only keep my Brain Stroke Miracle Healing alive and well. But she gave me the chance to be a Fatigue Treatment expert.

For now, I’ll be writing more on my Brain Stroke Recovery blog, with my Miracle Elixer in hand.
